If it doesn't fit you won't hit anything. Shotgun fit is the #1 thing in shooting better. I would want something with a wood stock so it can be fit to me or an adjustable stock, so it can be fit to me. (my wife who is 5'4" had a O/U with 32 inch barrels, it was a little silly). Most people today want longer barrels, easier to keep swinging (hard to stop) and better balance. (and Remington 1100/1187's wish they could say that) The Benelli's work, I mean they simply work.

(not that I would probably take a O/U waterfowling, but you never know) but, waterfowling, where you aren't carrying it all day the weight of the gun isn't such a big deal. NOT something you would want to take upland hunting. Popular sporting clays O/U's usually weigh in the 8lb range. Remember, Most clay guns are heavy, mostly to absorb recoil. In autoloaders, probably the most popular in clays is the Beretta 391 (now replaced by the 400, pretty similar though, but the 390 is a POS, don't buy one of those), you can get custom fit stocks (very important) and it's soft shooting and pretty darn reliable and there are A LOT of them out there. Can one not use a semi-auto for clays?įair enough answer, was just wondering, since at that price range, you can get a lot of nice O/U. Also, if I get more into hunting, extra capacity is not a bad thing. I've shot other people's semi-autos before, including a SBE, and have always loved shooting them. I suppose you mean, as opposed to a double gun? I've had an O/U and I'm not all that big on them.

But, given the scenario described above and my interests, is there some other semi-auto shotgun I should be considering? Remington 11-87? Beretta Xtrema? Browning something? Winchester something? Something else? I've done a lot of reading lately on semi-autos and I really think I want one of these Benellis with the inertia recoil system over a gas operated semi-auto. Since money really is an object, should I get the M2 or the SBE II?Ħ. If money were no object, should I get the M2 or the SBE II?ĥ. Am I missing out on a little more shooting enjoyment without the benefit of having the Comfortech stock if I get the SBE II?Ĥ. Am I selling myself short getting a 26" barrel instead of a 28" barrel?ģ.

Is $899 a good deal on an "American" series SBE II?Ģ. So here are my questions for the shotgun gurus:ġ.

Now, I guess I'm not positive, but that seems like a pretty good deal. The regular price on this thing is $1199, but it is on sale for $899. They've got a 12ga Benelly Super Black Eagle II "American" series with a 26" barrel and the regular stock (the SBE II has a 3.5" chamber). While in the Gander Mtn, they are having some sort of 40% blowout sale. I don't know if $1249 is a good deal, but it's the cheapest I've found in the area, in stock and new.

The Bass Pro Shop in my area wants $1259 for theirs and a local gunshop known for high prices wants $1279 for theirs. I went to the local Gander Mtn today to see if they had any M2s in stock that fit my criteria, and they did. I thought I had pretty much settled on a 12ga Benelli M2 "Field" model with a 28" barrel and the Comfortech stock (the M2 has a 3" chamber––I can't say that I ever plan on shooting 3.5" shells). I've been considering a semi-auto 12ga for sporting clays and rare occasion trap and skeet.
